3G Like Speeds (High Speed Internet Access): Enjoy the experience of superfast internet speeds on your BlackBerry smartphone and stay connected with the world on the Internet. You can also plug it into your laptop for use as a tethered modem. No need to carry a separate dongle for internet access.

High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) service in BlackBerry gives customer high speeds internet experience on BlackBerry Handheld Browsing and also while accessing Internet on your laptop by using BlackBerry as Tethered Modem.

HSIA Services is available with BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Curve 8530 and BlackBerry Tour 9630

HSIA service is available with below mentioned BlackBerry Plans

* Hand Held Data Usage is free. FUP of 10GB applies. Post 10GB charges of 5ps/100KB apply.
On Tethered Modem Usage, data charges start from the first instance at 50ps/MB

HSIA service is also available with Gold 900 Data Scheme. Gold 900 scheme requires a Voice Plan separately

Using BlackBerry Smart Phone as a Tethered Modem

• BlackBerry Smart Phones can be used as a Tethered Modem when connected with a Personal computer or Laptop via USB cable for surfing Internet.
•  There is no separate rental for Tethered Modem usage; you will be charged Rs 0.50/MB for usage.

HSIA Activation Process

• You need to give your request for activation of HSIA at the Toll Free Number 18004190121.
• At Toll FREE Number the you will be given information about the Unlimited plan, Modem usage, modem charges etc
•  You will receive the SMS confirming the activation of HSIA Services
•  Once confirmation SMS is received, you need to dial *228 for HSIA settings
•  After successful settings configuration, you are ready to use HSIA

Tethered Modem Installation Process

Step 1: Install the latest Desktop Manager from the CD that you have received at the time of purchase of the handset.

Step 2: Create Dial-up Connection

• Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Create a new connection
• Select "Connect to the Internet"
• Choose "Set up my connection manually"
• Choose "Connect using a dial-up modem"
• Give a name to the connections
• Fill #777 as Telephone number
• Choose "Anyone's use"
• Leave "User name", "Password" and "Confirm password" field empty. Uncheck "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection"
• Click Finish

Step 3: Configure Modem

• Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
• Open the properties of the RIM IP Modem (It should be named "Standard Modem")
• Click OK

Step 4: Connect to internet.

• Connect Blackberry device to Desktop Manager.
• Open the Dial up connection.
• Click “Dial” to connect.
