Buying a Photon Plus Mobile Broadband Service connection:
Q.Where do I get to buy a Photon Plus Mobile Broadband Service connection?
A.You can buy a Photon Plus Mobile Broadband connection at any of our Tata Indicom Centers/Station/other Tata Indicom outlets. Alternatively, you can visit our online store - www.ichoose.in and purchase a connection instantly.
Q.What does the Starter Kit contain?
A.The starter kit contains an OMH RUIM, Insta-change card, TEF form and User Guide.
Q.What kind of handsets will support the Photon Plus Mobile Broadband Service?
A.Only HSIA enabled CDMA handsets can support the Photon Plus Mobile Broadband Service.
Q.What is the upgrade process for existing TATA Indicom subscribers?
- Existing Postpaid customers will have to purchase the starter kit for the Photon Plus Mobile Broadband Service.
- Customer will follow the instructions at the back of the Insta-change card to change from NON OMH RUIM
to OMH RUIM.
- Insta change card can also be used to transfer MDN from NON RUIM handset to OMH RUIM.
Q.Do I need to activate STD for making STD calls?
If yes, how much deposit needs to be kept with the company?
Is the deposit refundable?
A. You do not need to activate STD facility on your Tata Indicom mobile to make STD calls. You will however need to activate the ISD facility. The refundable deposit for ISD services is Rs. 1500.
Q.Do you accept cash as down payment?
A.You can make a down payment by cash at any of our Tata Indicom Centres/Stations. In addition, we have a lot of retail points (Tata Indicom Corners) in the city where you could buy our service.
Q.Do you accept payment through credits cards?
A.Yes, we do accept down payments through Credit Cards. We would also very soon be in a position to accept bill payment.
Q.How soon can you activate the mobile?
- In case you make cash payment or credit card payment at any of our Tata Indicom stations then you can get your active phone within 2 hours.
- In case you make the payment by cheque, the activated mobile will reach you on clearance of the cheque i.e. approx 4 working days.
Q.Who will bring the handset to me in case I pay by cheque?
A.In case of cheque payment, the handset will be delivered by courier after the cheque is cleared.
Q.What documents do I need to submit/fill in order to subscribe to you services?
A.You just need to fill up a form (CAF) and submit a copy of your proof of address and identity along with the down payment and deposit. Proof of identity: Driving license, Passport, Voter I-Card or any other photo identity.
Proof of address: Ration card, Passport, Fixed line Telephone bill, Electricity bill etc.
Q.Do you have any promotional scheme for your existing clients?
A.Tata Indicom has some exciting promotional offers. We have a special offer for corporate customers who wish to buy in bulk. We also have exciting promotional offers for consumers. Schemes and promotions may vary from time to time.
Q.Can I use my GSM instrument for your CDMA service?
A.GSM and CDMA are completely different technologies and a handsets operating on one cannot be used on the other.

A. We not only offer free calls with every plan, our slab wise tariff plans are designed to give you the maximum value for your money.

A. If you make a local call to a CDMA/ WLL(m) phone, a landline or a GSM phone, the pulse rate applicable is 60 seconds.

Q.Can I send and receive SMS from my Photon Plus Broadband Mobile? What are the rates?
A.You can now send SMS nationally as well as Internationally. The rates applicable are :

Q.What are the other facilities on your SMS?
A.Our SMS facility allows you to send and receive national and international SMS, avail of content services from Tata Indicom 8282 services, by dialing 8282 from your Tata Indicom Mobile and Smart Wireless Services.
Q.Can we access other SMS providers like 8888 (Indiatimes)?
A.Now you can access Indiatimes SMS Service, 8888 and 8887 through your Tata Indicom Mobile and download ring tones, logos, weather updates, travel information etc. Services available are ringtones, logos, picture messages, weather updates, cricket scores etc. You can also access these content services from Indiatimes 8887 and 8888 services.

Q.Do the bills show the local call details?
A.No. Only STD details are displayed on the bill, however the bill will show the bifurcation of all calls made by you to various types of networks i.e. Local calls to GSM, Fixed line and mobile phones will be mentioned separately.
Q.Can I change my rate plan?
A.Yes. But it will applicable from the date of the bill cycle only.
Q.Are you going to charge advance rentals?
A. You will be charged advance rentals only if you subscribe for an advance rental tariff plan.
Q.Do you provide monthly billing or bi-monthly?

Prepaid Product and Subscription Queries
Q. What is prepaid service?
A.Prepaid is a service where you make an advance payment for using voice service and other value added services like SMS, CLIP, Call waiting etc.
Q. How is Prepaid different from Postpaid?
A.In Postpaid service you pay for the usage after a monthly bill is generated giving details of the usage for the last month. In Prepaid service you make an advance payment for the usage i.e. to make calls and use data services. There are no deposits to be made for STD/ISD. These features are pre-activated. Also, you need not wait for a bill to be generated to know the usage & then pay accordingly.
Q. What do I get at the time of subscription?
A.Once you have completed the initial procedure for subscription, you will be given a starter pack (SUK), this contains: .
- A TSIM card.
- User Guide – for both new and upgrade customer
- Activation card – to be used by new customer
- Insta Change card – to be used only by upgrade customer
Q. What are the documents to be submitted and what are the important fields to be entered in CAF (Customer Application Form)?
A.You can submit a photocopy for one of the address & identification proofs: Ration card, Voter Id, PAN card, Passport or any Photo Id with address details issued by Govt. of India.
All fields in the form are to be filled; however, following are the important fields to be filled in the CAF (Customer Application Form): Name & Address Date of Birth Proof of identification provided at the time of registration as well as a recent passport size photograph.
Q. From where can I buy the starter pack (SUK)?
A.You can buy the starter pack from any outlet promoting TATA Photon/ Tata Indicom products. Please carry along with you a photocopy for one of the address & identification proofs: Ration card, Voter Id, PAN card, Passport or any Photo Id with address details issued by Govt. of India along with a recent passport size photograph.
Q. How can I pay for a starter pack?
A.It depends on the payment option accepted at the outlet promoting the products.
Q. How do I check for the balance in my account?
A.As a promotional offer currently the service is offered to you free. To check the balance in the account, please dial 12527 from your mobile phone and you will get your balance details from the IVR.
Q.How do I get the call details/bill?
A.In Prepaid service you will not get any bill giving details of call made & received.
Q. Can I Change from a prepaid to a postpaid connection or Postpaid to Prepaid?
A.Depending on certain conditions, it is possible to change a prepaid connection to a postpaid connection. Once a subscriber changes from prepaid to postpaid, he is no longer required to purchase a prepaid card to keep his number active. He will then to issue a bill at the end of every month for his actual usage.
Q. Can I change my mobile number?
A.Only at the time of subscription, you select from the range of numbers available at the outlet. There is no separate request you can submit to change the mobile number.
Activation and other services
Q. How do I get the prepaid service activated?
- For New customers: Please insert the T-SIM card into your phone. Please scratch the activation card to reveal the 14 digit PIN number. Dial *228 from the phone and follow the instructions on the IVR. Once that is done and the distributor has checked your documents, you can then start using your service.
- For upgrade customers from Tata Indicom to Tata Photon Plus Prepaid Mobile and Broadband service: Please insert the T-SIM card into your phone. Please scratch the Insta change card to reveal the 14 digit PIN number. Dial from the phone and follow the instructions on the IVR. Once that is done, you can then start using your service
Q. How do I activate STD/ISD on the handset and do I need to pay any deposit?
A.The STD/ISD service is already available on your phone and there is no need to for you to pay any deposit to activate the same.
Q. How can I get roaming service activated?
A.The roaming service is already activated on your phone and you can roam in all the circles where TATA Indicom/ Tata Photon Plus has coverage. You will be able to make and receive calls as long as you have sufficient balance in your account.
Q. What happens if I lose my handset?
A.We request you to first contact us or visit any of our public office, to suspend your account temporarily. Later you need to submit a FIR at the Public Office and our executives will help with the required procedure. You need to subscribe for a new connection completely i.e. fill up new application form
T-SIM Card Queries
Q.How is T-SIM based prepaid service by TATA Indicom different from GSM SIM based prepaid service?
A.There is not much of a difference between them except for the technology on which the network/handsets have been designed.
Q.Can T-SIM cards be used in GSM handsets & SIM cards are used with CDMA handsets?
A.You can neither use the TATA Photon Plus SIM card in a GSM handset nor a GSM SIM card in a CDMA handset, since they both support different technology.
Q.What do I do if my T-SIM card is lost?
A.You need to purchase a new T-SIM card from our Public Office, please carry along with you an identity proof. You need to purchase a new starter pack, which will include a new SIM card, new number. You can retain the old handset and use the new T-SIM card.
Q. What do I do if my T-SIM card is damaged?
A.You need to visit our Public Office, and carry along with you an identity proof and the damaged T-SIM card. You will have to fill up a 'Change of T-SIM' form and a new T-SIM card will be provided. All your details will be retained and your services will be activated with the new T-SIM card.
Q.What is the validity & charges applicable with Tata Photon Plus Prepaid Mobile Broadband Service scheme?
A.Please refer to the tariff section for the same.
Q.I have taken SMS pack but when I am sending application SMS (8282, 8888 etc) am I being charged for the same?
A.The SMS value in the SMS pack can be used for SMS to local mobile phones only (local P2P SMS). You will be charged for all other SMS.
Q. Do I need to maintain a minimum balance for availing of the free T2T talk time or the free SMS value offers?
A.Yes, you need to have a minimum balance of Re.1 in the core balance to avail of the free Tata to Tata talk time (if any) and the free SMS value (if any). You also need to be in the active state to avail of this facility.
Q. Is this connection available on postpaid?
A.Yes, this connection is currently available on postpaid.
Q. I am an existing customer. Can I get this offer?
A.You will need to buy a new starter pack from the market and avail of this offer. You can retain your number by using a Insta Change card available ith the SUK. You will however have to buy a HSIA enabled handset to experience the data speed available with the services.
Q. Will I be able to receive incoming calls while I am roaming?
A.Yes, the customer will be able to receive incoming calls while roaming as long as he has credit in his account as all roaming incomings calls will be charged as per the applicable tariff plan.

Q.What are the benefits of this service?
- High speed internet access on Tata Teleservices state of the art CDMA network.
- No external modem required to avail this service.
- Service available on subscriber's existing prepaid account.
- Internet access at only 10p/10Kb.
- No activation or subscription charges.
- No monthly rental for availing internet service. Subscribers pay only for what they use.
- Subscribers can make and receive calls on their phone while connected to the internet (only when no active data transfer takes place)

Q. How to access Internet on Prepaid Mobile?
- You will need a data cable to connect your laptop/desktops to your internet ready mobile handsets in order to access the internet.
- Data cables are either provided by the handset manufacturer or need to be purchased separately. Pl contact your handset manufacturer for the same. An installation software CD would be given free of cost with the data cable.
